1. How do I play?
Ok this seem to be an often asked question - where is the
server ip? Well the fact is, you don't connect to an ip through
Quake 3 - you Challenge an opponent over the eSports website.
Once the Challenge has been accepted you will be sent to a
Match Lobby and be given space on one of our game servers.
When both players feel ready, click I'm Ready and into the
game you go!
2. How do I Challenge?
First of all make sure you accept Instant Challenges in your
preferences and that you
accept challenges from anyone. Once this has been set you
will be listed on the Play Now page
and people can challenge you. The Instant Challenge icon looks
like
and brings up a Challenge window. In the Challenge window
you can choose map, timelimit and write a Challenge message
to your opponent.
3. How do I launch the game?
Once you are in the Match Lobby you need to make sure a few
criterias are fulfilled:
- Make sure your name uses no colorcode
or strange symbols such as ¨¨
´´ < > and similar. If you use any
of those you will receive a Not Authenticated
error message when you try to connect to the server. This
is because your eSports username must match your player name
100%. To change your name, go into Quake 3 and change your
player settings or open up the config file and make the correct
changes there. Once again, make sure it matches your eSports
username!
- Browse for your quake3.exe path
everytime you are about to launch a match. Otherwise it will
not find the correct .cfg file on your system. This issue
will be solved in the next release.
4. What happens after I've played?
After a match has been played in eSports all statistics and
results has been gathered by the eSports engine! Close down
the Match lobby and check how all statistics from your match
are gathered are put into your profile, your match result,
the ranking lists and all other information available on the
eSports webpage. This gives you an opportunity to create and
role-play someone in the Quake 3 community.
5. What if I still have problems?
If you need help and support we would recommend you log into
irc.quakenet.org through IRC and join the channel #esports
- chances are you will find some admins using an |eSports
tag on their name that can help you out.
Get an IRC client here - http://www.mirc.co.uk
Note: A more detailed User Guide
will be available shortly.
